It is a way of learning to strike with hands ,feet, knees and elbows for self defence against attack from others,also from ill health and as an aid to mental well being. You are graded over time as your skills improve,there are 9 belts up to black belt,generally its 3 months between belts,We have 8 principles to guide our training ,a very brief summery would be,1 having correct feet placement, 2 having correct posture,3 breathing correctly, 4 correct use of the mind,5 use of the wedge theory,6 internal posture,7 use of ball and spiral theory,8 power sourcing,The above take time to master but are well worth the effort,as the results are wide ranging and special
What Is Tai Chi
We do yang style 108, it is a slow form of moves, that are martial in their origins,it takes about 20 minutes to do the form ,doing the form in the correct way creates a relaxing feeling,a refreshing feeling ,it gives energy back to the body by allows chi to flow in a more harmonious way, this is something that can be felt after a short time. This practise can be used for health and or a important help to your martial art. We have a warm up of chi kung exercise that also hold the secrets of good body movement and after the form is generally push hands, that is partner practise tai chi.There are also meditations practises
How Do I Enrol Myself / My Child?
Simple, Just come along in loose fitting comofortable clothing, if your an adult it would be worth while to consider bringing a bottle of water.
What Age Do You Accept Students From?
Age 5, for two reasons, firstly the attention span of a child under this age is significantly less, to keep up with the pace of a Karate Class, and our insurance will not cover us for under this age group.
Can I Stay And Watch My Child Train?
We actively encourage our parents especially those of beginners to stay and observe. It is important to Lincoln Karate Academy that you understand how we operate and your comfortable leaving your little one (s) with us.
